Judging commences in early August. The  judges are Jill Jones and Anthony Lawrence (Open Section), and Rob Walker (New Media).  Poets with a Newcastle postcode are automatically entered into the Local Award.  The authors of poems selected for the Judges’ Anthology are notified by the end of September. Winners are announced, and the anthology launched, in Newcastle in late November.

There are three sections:

Open ($11,000 total prize money)

New Media ($2,000)

Local ($500)
