The 2012 Newcastle Poetry Prize will open in March 2012

Entries are accepted for a poem of 200 lines or less, or a suite of poems totaling 200 lines or less. Each entry will attract an entry fee of $33. Multiple entries will be accepted. Entrants must permanently reside in Australia. The poem, or suite of poems, must be an original work, written in English, and must not have been previously published or accepted for publication, or be under offer to any publisher.

Judging commences in early August. The authors of poems selected for the Judges’ Anthology are notified by the end of September. Winners are announced, and the anthology launched, in Newcastle in late November.
